A Dynamic Partnership
VAGABOOM@MFS! is a partnership between Montessori Family School and VAGABOOM!
VAGABOOM! was formed in 2007 by three visionary teachers and artists who saw an increasing need for arts education for young people in the Bay Area. Its mission is to provide a hands-on, performance-based expressive arts program for K-8 youth in community centers and schools. Their program combines circus arts, music, theater, fine arts, interactive arts, marital arts, dance, yoga, meditation, Capoeria, and acrobalance to create a unique and empowering experience for each participant.
Montessori Family School provides the perfect venue for the wide variety of creative and performing arts offered at VAGABOOM@MFS! In addition to beautiful classroom spaces, our facilities include an art studio with a kiln for firing ceramics, a multi-purpose auditorium with a stage for musical and theatrical performances, a commercial kitchen for student cooking projects, an outdoor picnic area, and a large playground.
A Winning Combination
Combing performing arts, circus arts, and visual arts, VAGABOOM@MFS! is not your typical summer camp. Under the guidance of professional artists, kids discover talents and develop skills that will provide them with life-long enjoyment. Each week at VAGABOOM@MFS! is a complete creative arts experience: vibrant, creative, inclusive, nurturing, silly, serious, and just plain fun!
A Longer Camp Day
Our reasonable fees and extended camp day mean you don’t have to rush to pick up the kids. While most camps in the East Bay offer a six-hour day that starts at 9, at VAGABOOM@MFS! drop off begins at 8:30 a.m. at no extra charge. Camp officially begins at 9:00 a.m. and runs until 4:00 p.m. and includes morning and afternoon snacks (campers bring their own lunch). An After Camp program is available until 5:30 p.m. for a modest additional fee. Or register for all six weeks, and After Camp is included!
Weekly Guest Artists in Residence
Each week we invite a guest artist to join us at VAGABOOM@MFS! for a special week-long intensive that every camper gets to experience. Special intensives include theater, drumming, yoga, capoeira, and more!
